**Laboratory technician**

**Psychiatry, Mental Health and Addictions Research Group**

The Group of Psychiatry, Mental Health and Addictions is seeking a laboratory technician to work on
neurodevelopmental disorders, including attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism
spectrum disorder (ASD).

Neurodevelopmental disorders are highly heritable, comorbid, have substantial diagnostic overlap and share
clinical features and genetic etiology. Genetic studies continue to identify hundreds of genetic associations with
neuropsychiatric disorders, however translating these into causal genes or variants, biological mechanisms, and
therapeutic targets remains a major challenge.

genotyping, gene and microRNA expression, epigenetics and microbiome analyses and are looking for a
motivated research technician to work alongside our scientists to help elucidate the genetic and psychological

- Previous experience in biochemical techniques and molecular biology.

**Main responsibilities and duties**:
Primary tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Receiving and logging blood and saliva samples.
- DNA/RNA/microRNA extraction from fresh tissues.
- Performing DNA/RNA quality control and curating the resulting genomic DNA/RNA.
- Maintaining of the DNA and RNA collections.
- Maintaining computerized sample tracking database.
- Maintaining and ordering stocks, supplies and reagents (kits, plastics, supplies).
- Maintaining equipment.

**Labour conditions: -**

Full-time: 40h/week.
