**The Vacancy**
The role of the Building Engineer/ Architect is to work within our Madrid office to deliver a first class, professional service to our clients, initially assisting more senior colleagues in the delivery of the following services: Development Monitoring; TDD; Cost Planning and Cost Management, Project Management and RCAs. The Building Engineer/ Architect will receive all the necessary support to be able to take ownership of different projects and deliver on their own with minimum supervision in a period of 3 months.
**Responsibilities**:
To support the Madrid team in the provision of a five-star Service to our Clients.
**Specific responsibilities include**:
- Preparation reports (including management of documents and review of financial information, benchmarking, technical documents, legal documents, planning and other regulatory approvals, specialist reports, site and environmental information, risk management)
- Liaising with clients and their legal and commercial advisors as well as other development stakeholders (Developers, Designers, Project Managers, Cost Managers, Contractors, Public Entities, Service suppliers ) In multiple transaction types.
- Take ownership of and manage existing relationships with high-profile clients and lead on unique projects of multi-million-euro value (all sectors, predominantly: Logistic; PBSA; Offices; BTR)
- Site inspections, attendance at progress meetings, preparation of interim reports including drawdown recommendations
- Attendance at PC inspections and preparation of PC reports, confirming that all PC criteria has been met
- Pre & post contract work, cost estimates & tender process.
- Cost management of projects on site - valuations, cost reports and final accounts.
- Undertake market research and prepare cost estimates.
- Run projects individually & as part of a team
- Provide support as required to the wider Madrid Team
- No line management but potential to mentor more junior members of the team.
**Requirements**:
- Building Engineer / Architect or equivalent degree.
- Minimum 2 years experience within a similar real estate/building consultancy with background providing Development Monitoring services and/or Cost Management Services
- Previous experience in Development Monitoring / Technical Due Diligence / Gestión de Costes
- Can do and positive attitude
- Curious and willing to learn and share knowledge
- Fluent in English and Spanish, preferably native Spanish speaker (Minimum level C1 on both)
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence and diplomacy, along with good practical knowledge of Word, MS Project, CAD and outstanding Excel
- Able to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues as well as the ability to work independently, be pro-active and take initiative and showing ownership.
- Previous experience of working within a customer focused environment would be valuable but not essential.
- Be able to prioritise workload, work to tight deadlines, plan, organise and monitor several activities at the same time.
- Diligent, and results focused with a ’no task is too small’ attitude.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to thrive on providing an excellent service.
- Driving forward the Development Monitoring service through business development, networking and identifying new business opportunities
- Willingness to work from our local office most days of the week
- Capacity to travel through Spain and Portugal. Occasionally Europe.
- Full and clean ESP driving licence
- Comfortable in working alone and as part of a team.
