Job summary
Would you like to be part of a Public Policy team focused on increasing awareness of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the benefits of the cloud amongst both the public and commercial sector in Spain? Do you have government affairs experience and the technology public policy knowledge necessary to help further advance the adoption of cloud services at a national and regional level?
AWS is the leading provider of cloud computing services, providing IT infrastructure offerings such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery and more. We are looking for a talented, innovative, and well-connected individual to represent AWS in Spain before national and local policymakers in Spain.
This position will be based in our Madrid office, reporting to the Head of Public Policy Iberia, will be an active member of AWS Europe, Middle-East & Africa Public Policy team, and shall:
- Develop, lead and implement government affairs advocacy objectives for AWS in Spain.
- Represent key positions directly and through industry associations to governments in Spain to enable a regulatory environment that allows customers to access the full benefits of cloud adoption.
- Work collaboratively with AWS business units and other Amazon teams to ensure that AWS continues to help its customers meet and exceed national and EU regulations.
- Assess and communicate potential regulatory threats and opportunities, enhance strategies and policy positions, and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs and key initiatives.
- Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, including senior government officials, regulators, associations and partners to advocate on behalf of AWS and our customers.
- Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Further proficiency in other Iberian languages would be an asset; i.e. Portuguese, Catalan, Basque and Galician.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at highest corporate, National and local government levels.
- Strong knowledge of the policy environment in Spain in some key areas; i.e., digital, data privacy, economic regulation, infrastructure, cybersecurity, corporate compliance, public procurement.
- Experience working at high level and collaboratively in a highly-matrixed environment, alongside teams including Legal, PR, and business teams.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with experience working on large projects with demonstrated ability to effectively interact at highest corporate and political levels.
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to dive deep and understand how legislative and regulatory proposals may impact AWS business in Spain.
- Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects in regulatory proposals, understand business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers.
- Team player who is willing to get the job done with a demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.
