As Technical Service Manager for the market in Spain, Portugal and Italy you work very closely with our Sales, Innovation colleagues, and the customer’s R&D Innovation and Quality departments. In this position you will report directly to the Technical Service EMEA Lead, who is based in our head office in Zaandam (Amsterdam Region, Netherlands). Through daily contacts with the technical departments of our customers and as a partner of sales and account managers, you understand and spot the interests and needs of our customers and translate / negotiate this into understandable and realistic specifications and solutions. You create innovations to meet these requirements with our Research and Development specialists, as well as Product Management, Quality and Production. This role is truly cross functional.
About 50% of your time you will be in contact with a broad range of customers producing Chocolate, Confectionary, Bakery, Culinary and Plant-Based food solutions in the region. You will be traveling regularly (minimum 25% if the time) to visit customers for project and portfolio updates or to assist at line trials. As the technical part of our sales team you are typically the person in contact with our own Innovation and Quality teams, and with our customers’ R&D and Quality departments to make sure we create the right products and samples for our customers.
**What do we expect from you?**
As the description might have given away, for this role you will need to be a specialist in food product development and in oils & fats for the food industry. We expect you to have finished an education in Food Science or equivalent and have at least a few years of experience in a technical/commercial role. You are based in the region of Barcelona. Your mentality and experience is commercial, result-oriented and most of all you are service-minded, pro-active and responsive. You have an understanding of the landscape where fast responses are required in order to seize opportunities and boost customer satisfaction. To achieve this, you’ll be a great teammate and have developed sound project management skills. Proficiency in Spanish and English is required, other European languages, such as Italian and Portuguese are helpful.
