Description

The activities of the Media Systems area of the Broadcast Engineering department of OBS (Olympic Broadcasting Services) are key for the delivery of file-based content to Media Right Holders during the Olympic Games operations. The Media Systems activities are the main support for the Archive and Production department of OBS and include a wide range of responsibilities to be executed:
For the next Olympic, Paralympics Games and Youth Olympic Games, the Media Systems area requires a manager that will ensure the execution of the below responsibilities. This position is supervised by the Media System Senior Manager and will be in charge of supervising a team of engineers and coordinators who will participate in the different phases of the Games operations.

Duties
- Define accurately all the file-based workflows to manage the content archived and produced by OBS, involving baseband signals as well.
- Provide consultancy and advice on the selection of the best technical solutions and properly dimensioning the capacity of the systems.
- Analyse and compile additional requirements, like the need for Auxiliary equipment, Offices spaces and furniture, Tools, trolleys, consumables, etc
- Be trained and familiar with the operation, monitoring and evolution of EVS and AVID products to ensure and follow up this integration and ensure the collaboration between them and OBS is successful.
- Analyse in detail and ensure the perfect integration of systems and tools from new 3rd party providers.
- Ensure the perfect integration of systems and tools from other OBS and OCS departments or the IOC and external stakeholders (Organizing Committees, TOP sponsors, etc.)
- Generate all the necessary documentation for the correct deployment, configuration, and installation of the systems, including the diagrams of the equipment layout for the operational areas and the different Centralized Technical Areas (CTAs).
- Prepare the list of cables and equipment for the installation of the systems, and revision adjusted to the final installation.
- Prepare detailed user guides, technical references, workflows description and other documents to document the setup, configuration, operation, support, and maintenance of the Media systems tools.
- Testing (including end-to-end tests, systems acceptance, PoC, etc): Tests definitions, Tests reporting, Preparation and logistics, Documentation.
- Ensure that all the planning and design done during the first phase of the project is correctly put in place on the actual Games time operation setup.
- Liaise with other OBS department to ensure that all the timelines for equipment transport and delivery are met.
- Control and test all the physical connections (power, cabling, fibres, etc), logical connections (network configurations, permissions, accesses, etc) and signals.
- Liaise with final users and 3rd party vendors to ensure all the requirements are finally achieved.
- De-commission all systems and coordinate logistics back to our headquarters.
- Be responsible for the design and preparation of the systems and workflows used for the Archive roles workshops for our local students program.
- Deliver trainings and support as required.

Experience
- Telecommunications engineer specializing in sound and image with more than five (5) years of experience, or professional with more than ten (10) years of experience in the integration of professional broadcast systems.
- Working in systems integration for public and/or private broadcasters
- Management of planning projects for television production environments based on Avid and/or EVS systems.
- Experience in sport events live broadcasting.
- Experience in the preparation of technical documentation and responses to public tenders for broadcast systems.
- Experience in tapeless workflows, non-linear editing systems and shared storage.
- Experience in the design of file-based workflows.
- Experience with MXF, MOV, H264 encapsulations and H264, AVC, XAVC encoding.
- Experience with software such as Vantage, Baton, Woody, Glookast, Adobe Premiere, MediaHub, IPDirector, XTAccess, Avid CloudUX, Avid MediaComposer, Avid iNews, RedGiant, Vizrt, Maestro.
- Experience with software such as AutoCAD, MS Office (including Teams, Visio), MediaInfo.
- The Media Systems manager should be fluent in English (spoken, written and conversational) and able to communicate with clients, partners, and co-workers efficiently.

- This is a permanent seasonal/fijo discontinuo contract with breaks of 3 to 4 months every 2 years.
