It houses Mare Nostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for Euro HPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. This initiative is part of the talent attraction and retention programs within investment 4 of component 19 of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, C005/24-ED CV1.Our mission is to analyze and characterize the performance of large-scale Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads to propose novel High Performance Computing (HPC) hardware accelerators. Such accelerators will address the increasingly important challenge of irregular memory accesses and sparsity in AI workloads such as recommender models, sparse large language models and graph learning models, among others.Our research group is looking for a highly motivated research engineer interested in accelerating AI applications with novel HPC architectures.
