We are hiring.Since 2019, and thanks to the support from the European Commission, OpenNebula Systems has been leading the edge computing innovation in Europe, investing heavily in research and open source development, and playing a key role in strategic EU initiatives such as the IPCEI-CIS and the "European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud".We are currently looking for a Cloud-Edge Systems Architect Expert (Contractor) to come and join us in Europe as part of our new team developing the next generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.ObjectiveCloud-Edge Systems Architect Experts play a pivotal role in planning, designing, implementing and operating innovative cloud-edge solutions. Your expertise will guide the transformation of complex use cases requirements into efficient and scalable cloud-edge strategies, ensuring the sustainability and security of the new management platform. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated processes, tools and material to enhance knowledge transfer and providing expert advice on cloud-edge technologies and best practices.You'll work in an agile environment to design, develop, test, maintain and validate with use cases a next generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum. You will also participate in the upstream community, on challenging projects developing innovative edge/cloud systems. Applicants should be passionate about the future of the software defined datacenter, distributed systems, and open source.ScopeActivities in WP4 Deployment of Distributed Intelligence Use Cases and WP5 Deployment of the Continuous DC-Cloud-Edge Platform of IPCEI-CIS NextGenOne Project (UNICO IPCEI-2023-003)ServicesDefining, developing and delivering programs, tools and custom material to improve cloud-edge systems deployment and operation in use casesCreating and delivering technical instructions and demonstrationsDefining and delivering a transfer knowledge programBuilding and maintaining Ansible playbooks to automate lab buildingUpdating and maintaining existing material and labsSupporting use cases and partner needs by acting as the subject matter expertClosely work together with all the Teams and Units to determine program needs, and ensure the products meet use case demands and achieve project KPIsDurationFrom 1st July 2024 to 30th June 2026 (24 months)LocationRemote (occasionally F2F coordination meetings)BudgetMaximum hourly rate is 40 eurosMaximum work hours per year is 1.800The maximum estimated cost is 6000 euros per month, and a total of 144.000 euros.Technical SpecificationsContractors must demonstrate the following requirements:+5 years of hands-on experience as subject-matter expert (SME) in cloud computing orchestration, security and monitoringEvaluation CriteriaEligible contractors will be prioritized according to the following criteria:Price: Cost per hourEducation: Bachelor, Master or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related fieldAdditional Experience: Number of years of experience in projects to improve cloud-edge systems deployment and operationTechnical Skills: Experience in cloud computing orchestration, security and monitoring toolsAdministrative SpecificationsBefore the signature of the contract, the successful selected contractor will be requested to provide the following certificates:Positive certificate, issued by the local Social Security Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its Social Security obligations; or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is establishedPositive certificate, issued by the local Tax Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its tax obligations; or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is establishedThe successful selected contractor will be given a two weeks period after the notification of the award to provide the above-mentioned documents.AcknowledgmentsThis contract is supported by the Spanish Ministerio de Transformación Digital y de la Función Pública through the UNICO IPCEI Program, Project NextGenOne – Next-Generation European Platform for the Datacenter-Cloud-Edge Continuum (UNICO IPCEI-2023-003), co-funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
