We are hiring.Since 2019, and thanks to the support from the European Commission, OpenNebula Systems has been leading the edge computing innovation in Europe, investing heavily in research and open source development, and playing a key role in strategic EU initiatives such as the IPCEI-CIS and the "European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud".
We are currently looking for an Artificial Intelligence Technologist (Contractor) to come and join us in Europe as part of our new team developing the next generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.
Objective The AI/ML Technology Team is responsible for coding the AI-enabled engine to optimize operations on cloud and edge infrastructures.
The engine will provide smart monitoring, intelligent workload forecasting, workload and infrastructure orchestration capabilities, and log and metric anomaly detection.
The Team also helps in activities related to enabling new programming frameworks for data processing on the cloud-to-edge continuum.Systems Technologists focus on ensuring that cloud management products align with project and business goals, comply with best practices, and meet performance requirements.
You'll work in an agile environment to design, develop, test, maintain and validate with use cases a next generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.
You will also participate in the upstream community, on challenging projects developing innovative edge/cloud systems. Applicants should be passionate about the future of the software defined datacenter, distributed systems, and open source.Services Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, existing service and product portfolios, and best practices Analyzing functional and systems requirements and key case studies, and build prototypes for solutions to meet them Meeting with partners to deeply understand their most difficult challenges Defining the design, roadmap and prototype of an cloud-edge AI-driven architecture Designing the APIs, interfaces and data formats of the software components of the integrated cloud system Choosing the appropriate services and technologies for the system, and creating the documentation and diagrams of the AI integrated solution Contributing to and leading the development and testing of the AI software components, and their integration, deployment and validation using industry use cases Work with Python, LLM/GenAI frameworks and tools AI/ML end-to-end solutions developing Collaborating with other companies in the cloud-edge ecosystem within international projects, open-source communities and standardization bodies.
Availability to occasional travel and participation in international events and meetings Writing and maintaining software documentation and project reports Creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture Duration From 1st June 2024 to 30 June months)Location Remote (occasionally F2F coordination meetings)
Budget Maximum hourly rate is 40 euros
Maximum work hours per year is 1.800
The maximum estimated cost is 6.000 euros per month, and a total of euros.
Technical Specifications Contractors must demonstrate the following requirements:
Bachelor in Mathematics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field +5 years of hands-on experience as subject-matter expert (SME) in cloud computing orchestration, or AI/ML systems Evaluation Criteria Eligible contractors will be prioritized according to the following criteria:

Experience in cloud computing orchestration, security and monitoring tools Administrative Specifications Before the signature of the contract, the successful selected contractor will be requested to provide the following certificates:
Positive certificate, issued by the local Social Security Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its Social Security obligations; or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is established Positive certificate, issued by the local Tax Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its tax obligations; or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is established The successful selected contractor will be given a two weeks period after the notification of the award to provide the above-mentioned documents.
