Objectives
In order to strengthen our local Service team, we are looking for one Field Service Technician.
The position provides timely and efficient machine repair, installation, upgrade, and training services for customers as the front-line representative of the above Bobst entity.
Additionally, in order to strengthen Bobst's competitive position in the customer's plant, the Field Service Technician is expected to provide valuable business updates to support new selling opportunities.
Position Summary and Main ResponsibilitiesThe Field Service Technician is the front-line representative and the backbone of an extensive support network of personnel and assets worldwide.The Field Service Technician provides repair, installation, relocation, troubleshooting, customer education, training, preventive maintenance, productivity improvement program (PIP), and general support for Bobst machinery installed at customer facilities throughout the above geographical area.The Field Service Technician works closely together with the local technical support team and/or with the related teams in the production facilities in Switzerland.The Field Service Technician completes and submits timesheets within the expected timeframe.The Field Service Technician submits clearly written, accurate, and complete job, installation, and technical reports.When not travelling for work, the Field Service Technician has to be available to provide remote support to the Technical Service department.Competencies, Skills and Personal AttributesMore years of professional experience in plant engineering & maintenance and have professional experience in field service.Have good mechanical problem-solving skills in repair and maintenance.Know Bobst machinery.Have good technical understanding and manual skills.Basic knowledge of mechanical drawings and machine layouts.Work carefully, with attention to detail and solution-oriented.Be able to work both independently and in a team.Feel comfortable using Office 365 and have excellent laptop skills.Live centrally in the area specified and be willing to travel throughout the selected region (with hotel stay if required).Education and LanguagesMandatory technical school graduate in mechanics (with basic knowledge of electronics).Speak and write fluently in Spanish and English.
Another language is considered a plus.More years of related technical experience in a similar role within the printing and converting equipment industry.Acceptable levels of mechanical operating machine experience.Effective Communication ValuesThe Field Service Technician takes 100% responsibility for managing assignments at the customer location.The Field Service Technician clarifies visit expectations up front.The Field Service Technician enters through the main office, signs in as necessary, and connects with the appropriate person in the plant.The Field Service Technician calms down angry customers and satisfies them even if the problem cannot be repaired on the spot.The Field Service Technician is persuasive.
He or she listens intently to what the customer is asking, lets the customer vent, and, without getting defensive, addresses expected machine downtime and estimated labor if requested.The Field Service Technician holds a job completion meeting to summarize the work performed, agree on billing, and obtain a customer signature.
He or she maintains open, honest communication with the manager and displays confidence even when not sure of the solution.The Field Service Technician maintains open dialogue throughout and speaks clearly and understandably to the best of his ability.Successful Project ValuesThe Field Service Technician contacts his/her Regional Service Coordinator or Customer Service Manager for assistance; thinks ahead to anticipate problems; communicates bad news as soon as possible; balances technical repair needs with good service to meet customer and Bobst expectations.
Plans the travel schedule to be cost-sensitive to expenses and efficient in the use of time.
Maintains appropriate safety measures.Technical Problem-Solving, Professional Attitudes and Work EthicsThe Field Service Technician exhibits patience in front of customers and takes responsibility for solving the problem.
He/she assesses the problem(s) and develops a recommendation covering both parts and labor.
He/she works with confidence to complete the necessary work and reaches out to technical services if in need of assistance.If the necessary parts are not on site and delivery times are unacceptable to the customer, he/she drives to source local components to get the machine running as soon as possible.He/she is dependable and respectful.
He/she displays confidence, good cheer, and wears a clean, authorized uniform.
One of the keys to his success is the ability to display empathy (the customer recognizes that you understand his problem).
