Assistant Station Manager The Assistant Station Manager is responsible for the cultivation and maintenance of crops and facilities. This includes leading the day-to-day activities of the station and rental locations: preparation of the field or greenhouse compartment, sowing, transplanting, nutrition, irrigation, crop protection, disease control, climate control, crop management, general maintenance of the field, and rotation of the crops. The position is also in charge of the maintenance of equipment and greenhouses. Furthermore, this position will be responsible for a significant number of temporary workers as well as a considerable number of fixed employees working on the farm. Thus, proven leadership of temporary and fixed employees, as well as strong organizational skills, are necessary.
The work is performed in collaboration with the breeding teams to understand the purpose of the trials performed at the research facilities (farm). Priority crops include tomato, pepper, melon, and watermelon; experience with most of these crops is desired.
We are seeking an Assistant Station Manager with the following criteria: Master's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Horticulture
Knowledge of the seed business and plant genetics is desired
At least 5 years of experience managing a farm in agriculture, seed business, vegetable production, etc.
Ability to coordinate crops technically
Strong interest in product knowledge
Strong interest in people development, team-oriented
Strong communication and leadership skills
Highly motivated and able to work independently
Fluent in English
