YesOffer Description CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOBLocation: ICRA – Catalan Water Research Institute, Girona (Spain)Number of positions available: 1Scheduled start: December 1st, 2024Expected duration of the contract: 13 monthsThis offer and the contract are subject to obtaining the Project (Awarding of the contract by the tendering body).ICRA has tendered to coordinate the surveillance program for SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater in Catalonia (SARSAIGUA). With the understanding that the tender is awarded to ICRA, a postdoctoral researcher advanced with experience in the use of mass sequencing for the analysis and monitoring of microorganisms (bacteria or viruses) in environmental samples (wastewater, water superficial, others) and their relationship with public health is sought.The researcher must have previous experience in the use of molecular techniques for the detection, identification, and counting of microorganisms (bacteria or viruses) in environmental samples as well as in the analysis of mass sequencing data using bioinformatics tools to monitor and analyze SARS-CoV-2 variants in wastewater.The researcher will coordinate the sampling and the work teams in charge of the analytics and will monitor and control the quality of the data generated, collaborating in the interpretation of the results of both the concentrations of the SARS-CoV-2 by qPCR and the dynamics of the virus variants in the analyzed samples. The researcher will also be responsible for keeping the web platforms in operation up to date, writing periodic technical reports of results, and leading coordination meetings with the laboratories in charge of the analyses and with the representatives of the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Catalan Water Agency (ACA).He/she will also be in charge of disseminating the results to different audiences, both national and international, as well as disseminating them to the general public through different platforms (press, radio, TV, etc.) if necessary
