This offer and the contract are subject to obtaining the Project (Awarding of the contract by the tendering body).
ICRA has tendered to coordinate the surveillance program for SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater in Catalonia (SARSAIGUA). With the understanding that the tender is awarded to ICRA, a postdoctoral researcher advanced with experience in the use of mass sequencing for the analysis and monitoring of microorganisms (bacteria or viruses) in environmental samples (wastewater, water superficial, others) and their relationship with public health is required.
The researcher must have previous experience in the use of molecular techniques for the detection, identification, and counting of microorganisms (bacteria or viruses) in environmental samples as well as in the analysis of mass sequencing data using bioinformatics tools to monitor and analyze SARS-COV-2 variants in wastewater.
The researcher will coordinate the sampling and the work teams in charge of the analytics and will monitor and control the quality of the data that is generated, collaborating in the interpretation of the results of both the concentrations of the SARS-COV-2 by qPCR and the dynamics of the virus variants in the analyzed samples. The researcher will also be responsible for keeping the web platforms in operation up to date, for writing the periodic technical reports of results, and for leading the coordination meetings with the laboratories in charge of the analyses and with the representatives of the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Catalan Water Agency (ACA).
He/she will also be in charge of disseminating the results to different audiences, both national and international, as well as disseminating them to the general public through different platforms (press, radio, TV, etc.) if necessary.

Evaluation and review of variant sequencing results
Interpretation of the results and supervision and curation of the web platforms in operation (SARSAIGUA_LAB (concentrations) and SARSAIGUA_DRAC (variants))
Drafting of technical reports
Writing scientific articles
Curation and update of the public data repository in ZENODO
Dissemination of the results to different audiences, both national and international
Lead the information meetings with the representatives of the Dept. of Health of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the ACA

Experience in the analysis of mass sequencing data and in the use of computer software for its analysis (ex: Freyja, others)
Experience working in a biosafety laboratory 2
Previous experience in wastewater epidemiology
