We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer in Barcelona.
About the job: In the Systems Department, you will take the role of lead systems engineer for the ARCOS aerospike engine, involving multiple different concurrent projects for the development of the engine's various subsystems.
Overall, you will be responsible for building the baseline timeline for the technical work to be done, coordinating and harmonizing all the disciplines and subsystem developments, managing the activities input and output, tracking and managing the configuration evolution, as well as making top-level decisions regarding the preferred system solutions, trade-offs between possible options, and setting design constraints based on circumstances and experience.
Therefore, you must be completely comfortable working independently and taking independent decisions, and you should have some experience and know-how of similar projects from the past that you can bring to the company.
You will have to define your own work to a large degree.
Furthermore, you will need to manage the definition of the engine's concept of operations, the structuring and definition of the engine's requirements (including e.g.
RAMS, Operational Requirements, Environmental Requirements, Interfaces, etc.)
and ensuring their compliance, performing relevant system-level trade-offs and defining the engine's top-level architecture, creating the engine's functional tree and refinements of the product tree, structuring the engine project's activity matrix, configuration management, and defining and analyzing sizing cases.
You will work closely with your colleagues in the Systems Department and also with the Technical Coordinator of the company and the Project Manager for the ARCOS project, as well as with the Propulsion and Mechanical Departments.
In general, you will be expected to work with all departments and disciplines within Pangea at some point, to maintain a holistic view of the entire system.
You should be comfortable working with large teams and taking independent initiatives to gather necessary inputs from internal and external colleagues, initiate needed activities or analyses, and move the overall project forward towards completion.
A few years of relevant experience working with hardware-based aerospace projects and with standards such as e.g.
ECSS is expected.
Deep experience and understanding of rocket engines is also highly meritorious.
You will be expected to interface and work together with applicable external partners, national government agencies, as well as the European Space Agency.
Qualifications and skills: Education: Master's in Aerospace Engineering or a related field Experience: 3+ years of experience in systems engineering for aerospace vehicles or rocket propulsion, or a related field Technical skills: Experience in the implementation of ECSS standards or other relevant standards Well-rounded understanding of the relevant disciplines in the field of rocket propulsion Experience working as a leading role in large teams or complex projects Other good to have technical skills: Hands-on and in-depth experience with the development of rocket engines or launch vehicle hardware Experience in the use of Collaborative Engineering tools (i.e.
Valispace, CDP4, OCDT) Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically about complex systems.
Ability to take responsibility and manage stress Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and reporting.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving project requirements.
Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
