WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORWe are looking for a GIS technician to join our dynamic teams in child-health and air pollution research. The position will involve data collection, cleaning, and processing on Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing for its later spatial and statistical analysis of several projects.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONSHigher education in geography or related topicsPreferable Master/Course in GIS or related technologies (Spatial Databases, Relational Database Management Systems, Spatial Analysis, Programming)Familiar with QGIS, Python and/or R for spatial and statistical analysis, SQL Spatial and Remote SensingStrong programming statistical skills (R/Python)Previous experience in processing and managing of complex data and large datasetsKeen interest in environmental exposure and health researchSPECIFIC DUTIESTransfer and manage data from the studiesCarry out cleaning, quality control, and documentation of used databasesGIS and Remote Sensing data collection, integration and processing, using GIS Desktop software (QGIS) as well as Spatial Databases (PostGIS, Spatialite)Development of efficient Python/R-based workflows to process spatial dataProvide input on the interpretation of the resultsPrepare tables and maps for use in publications and reportsProvide input on development of methods sections of publications and reportsProvide support to the researchers of the groupMaintain close contacts with the national and international research teamsAUXILIAR TASKThis job description reflects the present requirements of the post but may evolve at any time in the future as duties and responsibilities change and/or develop providing there is appropriate consultation with the post-holder.

SELECTION PROCESSThe selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed, any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
