OverviewUnder the supervision of the Director of Convention Services, manages, coordinates, and executes group assignments turned over by the Groups Sales team.How it's doneScope of Position:Monitors all contractual agreements pertaining to rooms, meeting space, beverage and food, and special concessions.Coordinates all event details with Meeting Planner, which are then communicated to operational departments through BEOs (Banquet Event Orders) and GFS (Group Fact Sheet).Responsible for maximizing food and beverage revenues from assigned groups by solicitation of affiliate business and upselling.Effectively communicates to all hotel departments the information necessary to successfully execute the group's needs.Provides feedback with solid and open communication.Maintains strong client relations and follows up on deposits due, rooming list, and all necessary information to properly organize group needs.Verifies credit information submitted in the Finance department at point of turnover.Participates in site visits and plan meetings for upcoming groups and potential affiliate business.Promotes the use of MI Leads as a means of referral.Participates in trainings and other sales-related meetings as required.SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust be able to speak, read, write, and understand Spanish and English.Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.Enjoys working as part of a team.Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel. Good knowledge of Opera Sales & Catering & PMS systems.Hours:The typical working days of the Convention Services Coordinator depend on groups and events business. The working hours should be from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM, but are flexible according to evening events taking place in the hotel.Role duties:Listed below is an outline of some of the duties and responsibilities of the Group Coordinator:Attend weekly Conventions department meeting.Attend pre-con meetings, BEO meetings, Groups Recap meeting, and coordinate post-con for exit interview.Attend one-to-one meetings with the Director of Conventions Services.What the Convention Services Coordinator is not:- A replacement for the Banqueting Manager.- A replacement of the W Meetings Insider.Position Requirements:Workspace with computer and Opera and Internet access that has direct access or close proximity to the meetings space.E-mail access.Laptop.Mobile phone.Marriott International is an equal opportunity employer.We believe in hiring a diverse workforce and sustaining an inclusive, people-first culture.
