Postdoc on high resolution global climate modeling (RE2/R2) Atmospheric Sciences (AS) Climate: Past, Present & Future (CL) Ocean Sciences (OS) Type Full time Level Experienced Open Required education PhD 14 December 2024 Posted 15 November 2024 The Climate Variability and Change research group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center ( BSC ) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on high resolution global climate modeling.
This position, funded by the European project EERIE , focuses on the development of an eddy-resolving version of IFS - NEMO and involves conducting and analysing high-resolution simulations to assess the impact of mesoscale ocean eddies on the European climate, with particular emphasis on extreme weather events.
Key responsibilities include: - Providing scientific feedback to improve the robustness of a Digital Twin based on IFS -NEMO - Leading simulations and contributing to analyses on the role of mesoscale air-sea interactions in shaping the North Atlantic atmospheric circulation - Evaluating climate extremes and coordinating BSC contributions to project deliverables The ideal candidate will have a PhD in atmospheric sciences, engineering, or a related field, experience in high-resolution climate modeling, and proficiency in programming and data analysis.
Postdoctoral experience and a collaborative mindset are essential.
