The candidate will work on developing AI-based tools to improve the reconstruction of volumes, noise reduction, and defect segmentation, classification, and analysis in additive manufacturing materials.PhD candidate or Post-doctoral research associate – Artificial Intelligence applied to enhancement of X-ray Computed TomographyDesignation:PhD candidate or Post-doctoral research associateResearch Area:Artificial Intelligence applied to enhancement of X-ray Computed TomographyPhD candidates:Recent master's graduates (or soon to graduate) in fields related tomachine learning, computer science, material science, or related disciplineswith excellent academic credentials.Post-doctoral candidates:Experience in AI applied to material science and/or XCT.Experience or knowledge in AI applied to XCT images or any other image is highly valuable.Solid background in programming, preferably Python.Knowledge of machine learning, data analysis, image, and signal treatment.Full proficiency in English, oral and written.Job Description:The candidate will participate in the METALIA project, which aims at developing materials for various applications by additive manufacturing.
The focus will be on enhancing XCT capabilities using AI to improve volume reconstruction, noise reduction, and defect segmentation, classification, and analysis.
Key activities include:Data analysis and development of AI-based tools to enhance and accelerate XCT pre- and post-processing.Implementing solutions in both laboratory and synchrotron XCT data.Close interactions with industrial stakeholders and ability to work as part of a team.How to Apply:Interested candidates should submit their Curriculum Vitae, a brief cover letter addressing their motivation, and academic credentials to the IMDEA Materials Institute.
