Please do not contact the recruiter directly.Introduction to the vacant position: The Cellular and Molecular Mechanobiology Group is looking for an Postdoctoral Researcher Researcher to work on synthetic mechanotransduction. The candidate will work on a joint project co-led by Prof. Pere Roca-Cusachs at IBEC, and Prof. Marc Güell, Translational Synthetic Biology lab at UPF. The goal of the project will be to engineer a synthetic system of mechanosensitive gene editing. Cells and tissues are known to respond to mechanical signals from their environment such as tissue rigidity, in a way that regulates major processes in health and disease. In this context, developing a system able to edit the genome with mechanical specificity will open currently unexplored areas for biomedical applications. The position will be part of the ERC-funded project MechanoSynth. Main tasks and responsibilities: Developing a platform for the directed evolution of mechanosensitive gene editing systems Running evolution campaigns to generate mechanosensitive gene editors Characterizing the functions of mechanoactivated gene editors in biologically relevant setting. Requirements for candidates: Essential: PhD in life sciences. Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
