Junior Operations Manager - Air & Ocean Freight (m/f/d)

We are currently working with an exciting freight forwarder, expanding their presence globally with the next stop on this expansion being Spain.

With a global presence in over 26 countries and 30 years of market presence, our client has continuously serviced and catered to the business needs of international trade through a strong network of worldwide partners.

We are looking for someone ambitious about Air & Sea Freight Operations to support our client's growth and expansion into the European market. We are seeking dynamic and eager Air or Sea Freight Operations candidates to join the team and be an integral part of the freight business.

This is a unique opportunity to join an organization's exciting journey from its earliest days in the market, allowing endless growth potential as the expansion continues.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage all aspects of our air and sea freight operations, ensuring the highest level of service quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include:

Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute the sea freight logistics strategy for the European market, aligning it with the company's overall goals and objectives. Identify growth opportunities, evaluate market trends, and implement effective strategies to drive business expansion.
  2. Operations Management: Oversee the end-to-end sea freight operations, including but not limited to freight forwarding, customs clearance, documentation, and shipment tracking. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards while maintaining optimal operational efficiency.
  3. Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, carriers, and other service providers. Negotiate contracts, monitor service levels, and drive cost optimization initiatives.
  4. Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with key clients, understanding their unique requirements and providing tailored solutions to enhance customer satisfaction. Address any issues or concerns promptly, ensuring effective communication and resolution.
  5. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish performance metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of sea freight operations. Regularly analyze data, generate insightful reports, and present findings to senior management, highlighting areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Qualifications & Requirements
  1. A solution-driven and value-focused mindset is a must.
  2. A smart-working individual with a general understanding of the freight forwarding landscape is essential. Experience and knowledge in air or sea freight business operations is a plus.
  3. Willingness to work beyond the job role and ensure proper handling of all assigned tasks.
  4. Good written communication skills in German and English, with attention to detail.
  5. A working knowledge of SAP is an added advantage.
  6. Proficiency in handling MS Office tools.
  7. Enthusiastic learner in a fast-paced working environment, able to handle pressure with ease.
  8. Confident presentation skills (or a willingness to develop these skills).
  9. Analytical skills and a structured approach.
  10. Independent and able to steer and make logical decisions.
  11. Team spirit.
