Corteva is seeking a Senior Production Agronomy Specialist to strengthen the Seeds Production team in Spain. This role will be critical for overseeing and executing all activities related to basic seeds production programs.

You will be accountable for:

  • Monitoring basic seed production activities for sunflower carried out by subcontracted companies.
  • Managing production programs across key regions in Spain: Castilla-La Mancha (Albacete, Cuenca), Aragón (Huesca, Zaragoza), and Navarra.
  • Identifying and developing new seed production areas internally.

This role is remote with multiple locations considered near production fields. While a central location within the production area is preferred, candidates must be based close enough to facilitate frequent travel.

Travel expectations:

  • From March to September, frequent daily field visits are required.
  • From October to February, travel will be less intensive, approximately one trip per month.

If you thrive in a dynamic environment and are passionate about seed production, this role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to Corteva’s innovative agricultural solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • You will supervise the activities of third companies producing basic seeds for Corteva, monitoring the main/critical stages of the crop, and providing support for field activities like allocation, planting, rouging, pest management, irrigation, and harvesting.
  • In compliance with internal rules, procedures, and policies, you will develop new areas for internal production, being the primary contact with farmers.
  • You will supervise field activities, field staff, and seasonal labor, and lead field safety programs, providing agronomic and technical information to seed growers.
  • Responsible for producing a reliable supply of high-quality seed in sunflower (mainly) and corn.
  • Collection of data during the different stages of the crops.
  • Follow the process during and after harvest to ensure good quality of the produced seeds.
  • You will ensure that all operations comply with Corteva EH&S rules.
  • You will be involved in the certification process of the harvested seeds, as well as the correct storage of the seeds until transferring to the final destination.
  • You will also support the hybrid seed production program, working closely with the rest of the Seed Production team.

Reporting to: Seed Production Agronomist

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in sunflower seeds production.
  • Basic seed production knowledge will be valued extra.
  • Knowledge in corn is a plus.

Education:

  • Degree in agronomy/plants science, or equivalent experience or more than 5 years in similar roles.
  • Certi-Phyto and Crop Inspector/Self-Certification certifications are a plus. If you do not currently hold these certifications, Corteva will provide the necessary training, but you must complete them within the first year of employment.

Skills needed for the position:

  • Team supervision/management ability.
  • Autonomous and proactive profile.
  • Ability to work with third parties.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Interpersonal skills:

  • One team spirit.
  • Result orientation & problem-solving is a must.
  • Capacity for initiative & autonomy.
  • Data and continuous improvement driven.

Must have licenses:

  • Driving license.
  • Phytosanitary application license.
