Position Summary

R&D Information Technology (IT) is the stream in Nestlé IT in charge of powering the R&D function with IT capabilities to drive company growth through breakthrough research that can be translated quickly into products and services.

Digital technologies are triggering a crucial, comprehensive transformation of R&D organizations, and Nestlé is no exception. It is not only about adopting digital tools, but is a fundamental shift in the operating model for R&D. For this reason, Nestlé R&D has developed a strategy to leverage digital to accelerate time to value, protect the core and unlock new opportunities, for example, by leveraging consumer insights to drive innovation and renovation.

Responsibilities

As a Technology Expert for R&D IT, you will:

  1. Evolve the architecture of the R&D IT applications reporting to the Strategic Product Portfolio Architect.
  2. Participate in the definition and setup of the processes required to ensure proper operability and scalability of all the operations related to the infrastructure.
  3. Work closely with development teams and suppliers to ensure the planned value is delivered optimally according to the product strategy.
  4. Manage corporate processes related to the infrastructure of the products to ensure compliance and quality.
  5. Identify & learn new technologies to optimize current solutions for sustainability.
  6. Engage with Product Managers across the product groups and the whole IT organization to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and security requirements.
  7. Participate in identification and analysis of key industry and technology trends.
  8. Support the design and modeling of tactical architectures for special projects such as mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures.

To achieve the above, you will collaborate deeply with R&D stakeholders, the R&D IT Product Manager in charge of different areas (e.g., Nutrition, Sustainability, Food Safety) and the R&D IT Portfolio Architect team for Data & Analytics related projects.

What will make you successful
  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics or physics, or equivalent experience.
  2. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud; Amazon Web Services knowledge will be valuable.
  3. Microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, containers).
  4. Linux operating system knowledge; command line proficiency.
  5. Relational databases knowledge such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, including Azure provided services.
  6. Data-related cloud services, including Data Factory or Databricks.
  7. ML and AI technologies and frameworks knowledge.
  8. Strong emphasis on security principles and best practices, including encryption and access management.
  9. Good understanding of web servers (e.g., Nginx, Apache, IIS), caching (e.g., Redis), and serverless patterns (e.g., Azure functions).
  10. Knowledge about Snowflake or equivalent solution.
  11. Data engineering knowledge and experience analyzing complex data models.
  12. Experience with financial operations on public cloud providers.
  13. Understanding of system development life cycle methodologies (Agile, DevOps).
  14. Effective communication skills at different organizational levels and in English.
  15. Experience working in a global environment and with virtual teams.
  16. Hands-on knowledge of Python ecosystem and ability to design and build prototypes.
  17. Hands-on knowledge of R language ecosystem.
  18. Experience conducting proof of technology pilots and analysis of emerging technology.
  19. Natural curiosity and desire to learn.
Additional Knowledge
  1. Standardized middleware options.
  2. Platform infrastructure solutions, both enterprise and open-source technology.

At least 5 years of experience in at least two IS/IT disciplines (infrastructure, security management, application development, middleware, information analysis) in a multitier environment.

Real experience designing, integrating, and managing complex IS/IT solutions, products, and platforms.
