What you'll be getting up to:

We are looking for someone to work closely with our product owners to help shape and build the future of our tools and products.

You'd spend your time developing and improving existing projects, for example:

1. Building new websites and pages based on provided technical and functional specifications.
2. Implementing different strategies for existing products and tools based on requirements.

We'd also do a ton of work together like:

1. Architecting and developing new features.
2. Prototyping and evaluating potential implementations.

You would spend a lot of time programming, brainstorming on hard problems, and prototyping different ideas. You wouldn't be just churning through tickets in the backlog — you'd be helping to design entirely new products, figuring out what exactly we're even building and why.

While being a somewhat big company, we're split into small teams which means that even though we each have our areas of expertise, we all wear many hats. We're looking for a programmer, but you'd also help out with things like:

1. Managing Git VCS issues and fixing bugs.
2. Writing and improving the documentation for the products and tools we make.
3. Helping customer support answer customer questions.
4. Troubleshooting problems during live communication with other teams.

If you've ever maintained a large project, working with us carries a lot of the same responsibilities.

Here are a few recent projects you might have worked on if you were already part of the team:

1. Building the next version of our products from scratch with the latest technologies.
2. Building a performance testing architecture and laying the groundwork that will be used company-wide.
3. Refactoring the actual production application to simplify and speed up performance without any downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop websites based on technical and functional specifications provided by the client.
2. Continued maintenance, development, and bug fixes for the existing websites.
3. Utilise source control tools such as Gitlab for maintaining code versioning and releases.
4. Test the website on different browsers and identify any technical problems.
5. Work with the team to manage, optimise and customise multiple web applications.
6. Attend daily meetings to report on assigned tasks’ progress and attend fortnightly meetings for project planning and other meetings from time to time.
7. Complete tasks & deliver projects on-time and to the highest standards.
8. Contribute ideas for making the application better and easier to use.
9. Comfortable working on-call.

Required Qualifications:

1. At least 5 years of professional experience as a Frontend Web Developer, with a proven track record of successful projects and leadership in a senior capacity.
2. Expert proficiency in React.js and its core principles, with demonstrated experience in architecting complex applications.
3. Extensive experience designing and implementing scalable solutions using popular React.js workflows (such as Redux, Flux, or MobX), with a focus on performance optimization and code maintainability.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with a deep understanding of best practices and emerging trends in frontend development.
5. Mastery of modern frontend build pipelines and tools (e.g., Webpack), including the ability to configure and optimise build processes for large-scale applications.
6. Proven expertise in designing and consuming RESTful APIs, with a strong emphasis on efficient data handling and integration.
7. Advanced understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and code collaboration tools (e.g., GitHub), with experience in leading code reviews and providing mentorship to junior developers.
8. Demonstrated proficiency in ensuring cross-browser compatibility and implementing responsive design techniques, with a focus on delivering consistent user experiences across different devices and platforms.
9. Exceptional ability to write clean, modular, and well-documented code, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to writing maintainable software.
10. Proven track record of solving complex technical challenges and troubleshooting issues in production environments, with a systematic approach to problem-solving and a focus on root cause analysis.
11. Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and interface with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
12. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).

Nice to have:

1. Experience in a gaming company.
2. Knowledge of server-side rendering and backend technologies (e.g., Node.js).
3. Familiarity with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Playwright) and test-driven development (TDD) practices.
4. Experience with Agile / Scrum development methodologies.
