The British College of Gava ) an IB World School, near Barcelona is seeking to appoint an exceptional full-time Economics & Business Teacher to teach iGCSE and IBDP groups. The position is for September 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our new purpose built, fast expanding school with exceptional facilities. We are looking for an enthusiastic and well organised individual with excellent subject knowledge who is able to inspire pupils to learn and has a desire and willingness to contribute to the wider curriculum too. Experience of IGCSE/ A Level and/or IBDP is essential. We are a growing school looking for potential leaders as well as excellent teachers. The successful candidate will be a highly committed team player with the drive, energy and passion to develop this forward-looking school. BCG is an Inspired school and is also one of the very few schools in Spain offering the IBCP programme with some exciting pathways.

General responsibilities:

  1. To prepare, provide and review class or subject based activities that maximize opportunities for student learning.
  2. To plan lessons by agreed deadlines in agreed formats and to ensure that copies of planning are available to interested parties.
  3. To show good subject knowledge and to share this with other staff when appropriate.To provide a stimulating ordered classroom environment where time and resources are used well.To respond promptly and constructively to pupils' work.
  4. To involve students in the target setting process. To set homework that consolidates and extends classroom learning and that is based on individual need.
  5. To ensure the good behaviour of students and to develop within them positive attitudes towards peers, adults, property and school work.
  6. To maintain effective records of pupil progress and to ensure the transfer of up to date records when pupils change classes or school.
  7. To develop and maintain a good home-school partnership; to consult with and inform parents of the progress, attainment and attitudes of their children.To contribute to a whole school team approach.Teaching Specifications:

    UK Trained with qualified teacher status - essential

    Recognised Bachelor's degree - essential

    Recognised Masters or post graduate qualification - desired

    Secondary school teaching experience - essential

    Knowledge and understanding of English National curriculum – essential

    Knowledge of the IB programmes – desirable

    UK passport holder or right to work in the EU

    Compensation

    Competitve salary. Additonal stipend for those teachers who also have a tutor group. A settling in bonus is also given to those moving to the area from abroad. Chromebook. Local health care is excellent
