The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF's Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through innovative technology-enabled solutions.


The Senior Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Associate will play a key role within the Technology for Emergencies (T4E) team which sits within the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD).

The T4E team focuses on ensuring the right technology is available to support UNICEF's emergency preparedness and response programmes across the globe.

Specifically, the Senior ICT associate -under the close guidance and supervision of the ICT Emergency Manager- will focus on providing technical guidance and support to ICT colleagues in the field during the preparation and the response of humanitarian emergencies.


How can you make a difference?


Based on the established policies, guidelines, and service level agreements (SLAs), the purpose of this senior role is to support the provision of ICT solutions and services for emergency countries, assist country offices on their efforts to prepare for potential emergencies and support the management of ICT emergency equipment stored in the emergency warehouses.

Through these efforts, the Senior ICT Associate will support UNICEF country offices efficiently and effectively carry-out humanitarian programmes.

  • Maintain the emergency equipment pre-stock in our emergency warehouses both in Valencia and Copenhagen;
  • Provide technical support to country offices before and at the on onset of an emergency; and,
  • Document and support capacity building efforts.

Minimum requirements:

Education: Secondary education is required. *A university degree in computer science, software engineering, telecommunications engineers, information technology management, or related social science field is desirable*-

Work Experience:

At least 7 years of relevant work experience in information technology management and business operations in a large international organization and/or corporation.- *A Bachelor's level degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace three years of related work experience. A Master's level degree may replace an additional two years.

Certification and/or proven experience in one of these several ICT technical competencies: Information Security, ICT Audit and Risk Management, Telecommunications, Networks Information Security and Software Engineering and Programming

Language Requirements:
Fluency in English

Desirables:

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
  • Experience in a UN organization is an asset.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian) is considered as an asset.
