Business Development Manager, Schools

Role Purpose:


To own the global approach to schools for the Global Assessments team, including existing offers and new product rollouts, implementing a global strategy to drive the success of the business model.

This is a globally focused role within the Global Assessments (GA) Business Development team and would have senior management oversight of all aspects of the go-to-market plan for all relevant products, including all relevant products across young learners, young adults and others.

This will involve leadership on strategy development; tactical planning in target countries; communication to and management of local teams and local pursuit staff; communication and information to the network, and monitoring of results and risks.

Though reporting to Global Assessments, this post must integrate closely with Country Directorate, Exams Operations, Exams Business Development Managers, product managers, and cluster and regional management structures.


Main Accountabilities:

Strategy and planning

  • Develop a clear and compelling vision for the Schools exams business globally
  • Identify priority markets based on readiness and opportunity
  • Ensure that global, regional and countrylevel staff, are committed to securing annual commercial and strategic targets for business growth.

Leadership and Management

  • Work across GA to deliver the overall strategy as required by defined timeframe and budget parameters, while securing relevant deliverables and managing business risks.
  • Ensure the development and provision of highquality training and guidance for teams worldwide.
  • Develop product experts for young learner and teens tests (i.e., Aptis Teens) across the SBU. This will often be through mechanisms other than formal line management.

Business Development

  • Lead country teams on identifying the opportunities and positioning schools products within their Exams portfolio for maximum benefit
  • Oversee the strategy's implementation incountry, motivating and leading relevant staff responsible for elements of the plan to achieve project objectives in the three main areas:
a. Local recognition-seeking plans working in tandem with local and regional exams teams, Country Directors, E&S colleagues. ensuring effective, integrated and aligned outreach planning and delivery.
b. Operational planning for the secure delivery of the test working with local and regional operations teams

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain direct relationships with senior external stakeholders as required by local circumstances to win recognition for our schools segment products incountry.
  • In addition to the teams mentioned above, build and maintain excellent relationships with internal partners and stakeholders across Exams Operations and Delivery, Business Development and Business Assurance, as well as Marketing, IELTS and Distribution teams to prevent internal project roadblocks and ensure projects are supported with the appropriate expertise.
