Sr Construction Project Manager:

As a Construction Project Manager for HV Substations in EMEA, you will be part of a highly skilled team dedicated to solving complex challenges related to the construction and maintenance of HV substations that power our cloud services.

This role requires strong utility management skills. AWS Substation Project Managers work in a dynamic environment, delivering HV substations for our clients. Leveraging expertise in electrical engineering, our Project Manager will lead HV substation construction projects independently and at a large scale.

Our HV substations are known for their energy efficiency and cost-effective designs. The Senior Construction Manager plays a key role in overseeing disciplines such as civil, electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural aspects.

The position is available in Dublin, Ireland, or Zaragoza, Spain.

Key job responsibilities:
  • Oversee construction project management activities for new HV substation projects in Ireland, Sweden, Capetown, and Spain, involving up to 40% travel.
  • Manage project scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Collaborate with construction general contractors throughout all project phases.
  • Ensure efficient and high-quality project deliveries in compliance with electrical utility standards.
  • Lead negotiations with contractors and evaluate bids accurately.
  • Develop construction project scope and request proposals.
  • Conduct financial analysis for construction work.
  • Review construction submittals and ensure project quality control.
  • Report construction metrics to team members and management.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for equipment and electrical failures.
  • Be a leader within internal and external teams supporting the data center.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations, system audits, and commissioning at HV Substation sites.

We are open to candidates based in Zaragoza, Spain, with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of construction management experience in large, complex projects.
  • Proficiency in electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience in managing contractors and vendors for construction projects.
  • Knowledge of HV substations and large-scale mechanical/electrical plants.
  • Experience with technical operations and mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Experience with electrical utility providers and risk management.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Background in value engineering and controls/commissioning.
  • Relevant certifications in project management and construction.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with data-driven decision-making abilities.
