The European Broadcasting Union EBU is looking for a Head of Commercial.

ABOUT THE EBU SPORT DEPARTMENT The EBU, through its sport department, is the most trusted and well-established media partner for international sport federations and event organizers seeking the widest reach of audiences across Europe and throughout the world.

It exploits, manages and develops commercially the acquisition and sales of sports rights deals (for all platforms including radio) and provides high-quality services to its Members.

The EBU has recently launched Eurovision Sport, its first direct-to-consumer sport service that marks a watershed in live sports broadcasting.

Thousands of hours of content are set to be streamed in a single digital destination - complementing existing coverage provided by public service media – and showcasing every second of a wide variety of events.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION The Head of Commercial will be responsible for maximizing and growing all revenue streams across the platform and influencing the wider business strategy.


The role will span all worldwide revenues streams such as
SponsorshipDistribution Partnerships (notably FAST & Connected TVThis role is an integral part of the Sport department of the EBU, reporting to the Director of Business Operations and , and has overall responsibility to drive revenues of the EurovisionSport platform.

The role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with senior decision-makers within the EBU and the broader business ecosystem with EBU strategic technology partner in order to grow and achieve revenues to drive the business plan of sustainable success.

The Head of Commercial will use all of its experience and knowledge from the sport industry, proven track record in delivery sales revenues for a similar project and using its extensive contacts to enable the business to deliver the best possible results, relying on their expertise to help drive revenues.

As a key member of the team, Head of Commercial will also inspire and influence colleagues in all areas to deliver outstanding results through best-in-class business propositions, within the commercial sphere and beyond.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES 5+ to 10 years minimum in Sports/Sponsorship/Digital salesClear understanding of the multi-media ecosystem, particularly digital platformsKnowledge of the online video industry (IPTV, OTT, broadcast and/or publishing) is imperative.

Direct client and agency contacts/relationships a plusDeep advertising agency relationships and contactsExperience in delivering across the commercial spectrum, from strategy to salesA successful track record with documented proof of sales performanceProven track record managing and achieving aggressive growth goals.

Demonstrable success of finding and building new areas of revenue generation.
Proven track record of delivering world class commercial and marketing partnerships.
Entrepreneurial, with a bias towards action and a collaborative nature.

Strong writing, presentation and oral communication skills, strategic planning, organization, business developmentStrong relationship building ability including sustaining long-term customer relationships.

Willingness to work collaboratively to deliver successful campaigns to our brand partners

  • Decisive and able to make tough decisions under pressure.
Creative and strategic thinker, able to provide effective solutions for the business and for customers.

Solid technical understanding of advertising technologies including SSPs/DSPs, ad mediation, ad servers, RTB, and audience targeting; familiarity with TV/OTT/CTV technology strongly preferred Good technical knowledge and ability to rapidly up-skill.

Tons of energy, passion, humor and enthusiasm.

Team playerSelf-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environmentLANGUAGE - Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION - Master MBA or advanced quantitative/technical degree preferred but not required.

ADDED VALUE Experience in the IPTV, OTT / Sport OTT, broadcast and/or publishing market, history of strategic account management and a proven track record of exceeding sales targets.

Experience preferred in Sport industry as well as programmatic (or equivalent) solution sales to agencies, ideally strong working knowledge of full digital video spectrum.

Management of a junior commercial managerPassionate by SportONCE ON BOARD YOU WILL Be part of an outstanding diverse and inclusive multicultural and international team.
