We are seeking:

  • A Data Scientist to join our marketing team. This team is vital for enhancing Skyscanner's upper funnel digital advertising to achieve sustainable growth and user retention. Projects involve improving paid marketing activities through campaign, bidding, and feed optimization using advanced analytics and machine learning.
  • A Data Scientist to join our flights optimization team. This team operates at the core of our flight product, optimizing the site's engine to provide value at scale. They are responsible for delivering top-notch solutions for our flight inventory by processing massive amounts of data and generating millions of predictions daily. Our objective is to offer swift searches, precise results, and the most extensive selection of flights to all travelers.

As a Data Scientist at Skyscanner, you will oversee high-impact projects, adopting a test-and-learn approach. You will play a role in the complete lifecycle of a data science project, from defining the scope and analyzing data to creating, evaluating, deploying, and monitoring solutions in a live environment.

The role will involve:

  • Research innovative methods of modeling data for actionable insights and product enhancements
  • Develop data products and machine learning solutions to support Skyscanner's marketing and flights product requirements.
  • Create agile and robust experiments to assess the efficacy of models, tools, and initiatives
  • Suggest strategies to optimize campaign performance and maximize profitable growth
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to tackle quantitative challenges and identify patterns and opportunities
  • Implement and sustain models in operational environments

You are encouraged to apply if you:

  • Have prior experience as a Data Scientist in a business setting. Exposure to marketing or end-to-end model deployment is advantageous.
  • Possess a deep comprehension of machine learning models, including their mechanics and appropriate applications. Familiarity with campaign, bidding, and feed optimization is beneficial for the marketing role, while knowledge of CatBoost, XGBoost, or TensorFlow is advantageous for flights optimization.
  • Demonstrate strong programming abilities with Python and SQL. Experience with Spark and Apache Airflow is a plus.
  • Showcase expertise in advanced Data Analysis, data processing, cleansing, investigations, etc.
  • Exhibit skills in code collaboration (PR/code review) and software development tools (Git), CI/CD.
  • Are naturally curious and inquisitive - It's not just about modeling... it's about data quality, business metrics, system interactions, and more.
  • Have fluency in English and can communicate effectively across various management levels, as well as the business and technical realms.

As an established figure in the travel industry, we are committed to enhancing our operations further. We provide hybrid work arrangements (2 days a week in person), comprehensive medical coverage, home office stipend (€580 first year and €180 annually thereafter), and the choice between a new Macbook Pro M2 or equivalent Windows laptop.
