Job description:
We have an open PhD position in the domain of cybersecurity of critical infrastructures more particularly of industrial control systems (ICS) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
These systems consist of multiple connected embedded devices - often also legacy devices - which are used to control and monitor an industrial process.
Clearly, security is of uttermost importance in ICS and IIoT. However, in practice, these systems often lack the necessary security protection and are vulnerable to a range of attacks.Therefore, there is a need for innovative security solutions tailored towards the specific needs of ICS and IIoT systems are needed that cover the ICS/IIoT security lifecycle.
The security research will focus on:
- critical infrastructure assessment and exchange mechanism approach such as TISAX1 and AWWA2, on security standards such as IEC-62443,
- implementation and integration of tools for the development of attacks (e.g., pipedream) on the deployed ICS/IIoT infrastructure and
- deployment and implementation of countermeasures to mitigate the attacks generated.

Schedule:
winter: 7.75 hours per day
July and August:
6 hours a day (continuous).
Flexible hours:
check-in between 8:00 and 9:30, check-out from 4:15 p.m.
Possibility of continuous day on Friday.
Teleworking:
Option to telework 1 day per week.

The applicant should have a practical mindset and good communication competencies. Prior research expertise in ICS or IIoT security is a bonus.
