Crude Trader

What do we expect from you? 

In the role of a Crude Oil Trader, your focus will be centered around leveraging the refinery short by monetizing optionality and improving CEPSA’s call on key marker grades, WTI and Dated Brent. This position is critical in driving forward our ambitious and transformative vision for trading at CEPSA. The role has aspects of entrepreneurial trading (financial and physical) and asset (refinery) trading; these roles are currently not split at CEPSA.

Role Responsibilities:

• Physical Crude Oil Trading and portfolio management to maximize refinery bottom-line and add incremental value – all within the risk parameters.
• Identify and act upon new market opportunities and business expansion, leveraging market insights and relationships to drive new business initiatives.
• Quality decision-making utilizing knowledge of risks, exposure, technology, and market insights.
• Adjust and optimize trading strategies in response not just to the market but also operational challenges that arise in physical refining portfolios.
• Share market intelligence and trading ideas / market call, contributing to the collective knowledge and strategy.

What are we looking for?

We welcome candidates with varying experience levels, with a minimum requirement of a few years in front-line trading. Key attributes include comfort with financial derivatives, experience in trading regional arbitrage using various derivatives and physical freight. An understanding of the economics of crude oil refining would support the candidacy. We value individuals who can comprehend and articulate complex business problems and offer creative trading solutions. Fluency in English is essential, and additional language skills, particularly Spanish, would be advantageous. Most importantly, we seek candidates willing and able to work under significant pressure, demonstrating high resilience and availability.
