Proton was founded in 2014 by a group of scientists who met at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Our first product, Proton Mail, is now the world’s largest encrypted email service. Subsequent Proton products, such as Proton VPN, Proton Calendar, and Proton Drive, give our users full control over how and with whom their data is shared.

Purpose of the role:

Proton is a mobile-first company, building an Internet that respects the privacy and puts people (not advertisers) first. The products you build will impact the lives of millions of users, so a strong emphasis on quality is required. Our team combines deep mathematical and technical knowledge from the world's top research institutions with expertise in building easy-to-use user interfaces. Together, we are building the encrypted communication technologies of the future. 

What you will do

Build features in all of Proton's products.Close interactions with products and engineers across the company.Build scalable software architecture through software engineering best practices.Optimise user experience and design.

Job requirements

Extensive experience in iOS or macOS development, in particular with Swift and with in-app payments (StoreKit 1 and 2).Experience with the full lifecycle of iOS app development from coding and testing to QA, app review and publishing in-app purchases in the AppStore.Have a passion for mentoring other engineers and helping them grow.Passionate about user interaction, usability, and providing an excellent user experience.Demonstrated experience driving change within an organization and leading complex technical projects.Extensive experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques.Extensive experience with multithreading programming and mobile memory management.

Bonus points for:

Experience with SPM.Experience with developing apps for the Android ecosystem.Experience with Kotlin.
