Overview
The position is located in Madrid within the Big Data & AI Economic Analysis unit at BBVA Research. This team is in charge of the application of data science and artificial intelligence techniques to economic, social and geopolitical analysis. To achieve this, several databases are used, including both internal data such as the BBVA data and external ones like media data, which are processed using NLP and LLM techniques. This enables the creation of indicators to monitor the economy in real time and high definition, with great geographic and sectoral details as well as by customer features. Additionally, BBVA's database is used to answer significant economic questions that traditional databases do not address. From the geopolitical and social perspective, we monitor major trends with high-frequency indicators for all countries. The unit also places a strong emphasis on the use of LLMs for economic and social analysis.
About the job
We are looking for a Senior Analysist-Researcher, economist or data scientist with solid quantitative background, experience
in Big Data techniques and knowledge in economics. The candidate will be involved in Big Data projects using alternative data
sources and participating in projects related to the following fields:
projects with Top Universities, National Policy Makers (Central Bank, Ministries, Statistical Offices) and
International Organizations. Processing Non-Structured Information (Text) through NLP and Sentiment Analysis to develop Economic, Social and
Geopolitical Analysis. Developing and exploiting Large Language Models for applied Economic, Social and applied Geopolitical Analysis.
There will be a strong collaboration with Economists from all the countries where BBVA and the international community of
Big Data-Economic Research from the Academia and national and international organizations.
The main tasks associated with this position are:
projects. Develop quantitative analysis tools in the economic, social, and geopolitical fields. Deepen the use of BBVA data for economic analysis. Actively participate in the projects, presentations and reports of the Unit. Actively collaborate with BBVA countries and support both units in Big Data projects.
