This position reports to the Director of Purchasing who is based in the UK and will be performed remotely. The commodity buyer will seek annual cost reductions through negotiation, benchmarking and competitive sourcing and will work on both commodity and program related purchasing to ensure program objectives are achieved through the most cost-effective suppliers.

Responsibilities:

Annually reduce costs in line with corporate objectives Develop and manage commodity strategy in line with market changes (currency fluctuations, material price developments, technology advances, etc.) Initiate cost saving ideas, initiate and participate in lean program assessment activities, initiate benchmarking and internal/outsourced analysis where applicable, work with plant logistics to optimize transportation and packaging issues Support local plants/operations on any supplier related issues (shipping, commercial, etc.) Manage material economics (CPI/CPR) and exchange rate related issues Develop Lear Should Cost models with suppliers Negotiate long term agreements Test global markets to ensure lowest cost of purchased components Create and issue RFQ/ECN for new product procurement and subsequent design changes Find suppliers based on issued RFQ/ECN to support program deliverables

Requirements:

BSc/BA or equivalent experience and/or technical education and/or engineer with university degree Fluent in English Strong negotiation skills Experience in purchasing for at least 2 years MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to travel within the UK/EU
