Context And Mission
The Computer Architecture and Operating System group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center aims at carrying out research on programming models for critical embedded systems in charge of controlling fundamental parts of cars, airplanes and satellites. Our work is mainly done in the context of bilateral projects with several processor companies as well as several European-funded projects. The objective of this position is to lead BSC work in HEU NimbleAI, and contribute to the other hardware-related projects such as ISOLDE (running), SMARTY (to start around May-2024), and other projects now under submission. Also, the person in this position will manage the work of a 5-7 people group on hardware design and FPGA prototyping.
Key Duties
  • Collaborate in the development of HW/SW safety support for automotive, space, and avionics processors or research processors as part of a team
  • Learn and participate in verification and validation activities of the developments performed
  • Coordinate a hardware design team of 5-7 peopls

Requirements
  • Education
    • PhD in Electronics, Computer Sciences, Telecommunications or Automation
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Practical experience researching on functional safety and reliability HW/SW solutions
    • Skilled on digital processor or microcontroller designs
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Knowledge on processor microarchitecture (, Infineon, Intel, or AMD processors among others) is welcome
    • Experience with FPGA use and debug tools is also welcome
  • Competences
    • Problem-solving, pro-active, result-oriented work attitude
    • Good communication skills including a good command of the English language (written and spoken)

Conditions
  • The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department

  • Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
