Crop Breeding Lead

From the R&D business unit, we need to incorporate an Crop Breeding Lead for Solanaceas varieties (Tomato or Pepper&Eggplant). This role can be held either in Almería or Barcelona.

What will be your responsibilities?

• Setting global breeding strategy of crop(s) species

• Supervision and evaluation of Breeding Programs

a) Supervision of breeders

b) Create synergies within the station and among breeders globally.

c) Follow-up of Breeding programs: genetic gains & efficiencies.

• People leadership: special focus on diversity and culture

• Global Budget management at a crop level

• Active participation on setting research priorities with Global Crop Coordinator and Biotech leadership at a crop level

• Foster active collaboration among breeding team and with development and sales teams

• Active participation within R&D committee

• Formulate and propose a comprehensive improvement strategy for the assigned crop, considering genetic, agronomic, and technological aspects.

• Act as Director of Research and Development, executing all actions related to the improvement strategy, subject to the corresponding approval.

• Define and coordinate all actions in the different improvement centres, establishing clear objectives and ensuring their follow-up.

You are the talent we are looking for if you...

• You do have a Degree in Agriculture & a master’s degree in Plant Breeding (preferably in horticultural species)
• It would be desirable if you do have also a Ph.D in Genetics, Plant Breeding or areas related to genetic improvement
• 10 years of managerial experience in Plant Breeding, preferably in horticultural species, are required to fit in this role
• You do have Availability to Travel
