Senior Backend Engineer, Malaga, Java, Spring, Hybrid working, $55k-$80k base, APIs, KubernetesWe're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join a fast growing fintech engineering team working at the heart of open banking. This role is focused on building and scaling backend services and APIs that power modern financial products. You'll be working in a distributed system environment, collaborating closely with product, support, and customer-facing teams, and contributing to technical decisions that have real impact.What you'll be doingBuilding and maintaining scalable, secure backend services and APIsWorking closely with product managers and stakeholders to shape requirementsDebugging and troubleshooting distributed systems in productionParticipating in code reviews and raising engineering standards across the teamDesigning RESTful APIs with an API-first mindsetLearning and working with open banking and PSD-related integrationsWhat we're looking forStrong experience with Java and the Spring frameworkHands-on experience with microservices and KubernetesComfortable debugging distributed systems, including tracing and observabilityExperience designing RESTful APIs and understanding trade-offsProduct-minded engineer who cares about customer outcomesAble to work independently while contributing to team goalsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar, with 5+ years commercial experienceComfortable working in a fast paced, startup-style environment
