As our next
Data Scientist
, based in
Barcelona or London
, you'll play a key role in shaping an AI-powered Checkatrade. From improving how homeowners find the right trades to helping trades win work more efficiently, your work will directly influence how intelligence drives decisions across our two-sided marketplace – at real scale, in the real world.

Forget long lists – here's what you'll actually spend your time on:

• Experimenting with LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and other advanced approaches to improve matching, ranking and recommendations
• Building, testing and deploying production-ready models – from forecasting and NLP to classification and MMM – that power our core marketplace systems
• Working closely with Engineering, Product, Analytics and BI to ensure models are scalable, observable and delivering measurable impact
• Embedding AI and data science into everyday workflows so intelligence shapes every customer and trade experience
• Helping define how we responsibly experiment, evaluate and ship ethical AI through our internal AI playbook

It's not about ticking every box. It's about turning up curious, ready to crack on. You'll do well here if you bring:|

• Strong applied experience with SQL, Python, and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow and Hugging Face
• A proven track record of building and deploying production-grade machine learning models
• Comfort moving between rapid experimentation and rigorous model evaluation
• A pragmatic mindset – knowing when to fine-tune, when to use off-the-shelf models, and when simple beats complex
• Curiosity, creativity and a genuine drive to turn data into tangible, measurable impact
