ROLE SUMMARY:

The British College of Gava, in Barcelona, are seeking an enthusiastic, well-organised English Teacher (English Language and Literature) who can inspire students across Secondary and A Level programmes. As a growing school, we are looking for excellent teachers with the potential to take on future leadership roles. The successful candidate will be a committed team player with the energy, passion, and professionalism to contribute to our forward-thinking learning environment, lead by example, and support the wider pastoral life of the school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver engaging and academically rigorous English Language & Literature lessons aligned with the school curriculum and international standards.
  • Plan and implement differentiated learning strategies to meet the needs of a diverse student body.
  • Assess, record, and report on student progress with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that supports student well-being and intellectual curiosity.
  • Integrate technology effectively to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, assessment design, and cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Participate actively in school events, extracurricular activities, parent communication, and community initiatives.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and uphold the school's values, safeguarding policies, and code of conduct.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.
  • Experience teaching GCSE, A Level, IB, or other international curricula.
  • Proven ability to set high expectations, plan effectively, and evaluate learning impact.
  • Excellent classroom practice and the ability to inspire and challenge students.
  • Strong organisational skills and a positive, adaptable approach to change.
  • Commitment to high standards of student welfare and pastoral care.
