We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a highly technical product team building high-performance, real-time data services. This role focuses on designing and developing scalable backend systems that power data pipelines, low-latency APIs, and critical product capabilities used by demanding, large-scale customers.

You will work close to the product, contributing directly to solving real problems while shaping long-term technical decisions.

About the Role

This is a hands-on senior backend role for someone who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and working in environments where things are not fully defined. You will build and evolve production systems that need to be fast, reliable, and scalable, working with data-intensive workloads and complex distributed systems.

You'll be part of a product-driven engineering team, alternating between core backend development and operational problem-solving, with real responsibility for the health of the systems you help build.

As a Backend Engineer, you will:

Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs used in production at scale.

Work on data ingestion, processing, observability, and user-facing analytics capabilities.

Solve complex engineering problems across backend systems and infrastructure boundaries.

Take ownership of features from design through execution and delivery.

Collaborate closely with other engineers to improve system reliability, performance, and developer experience.

Participate in the on-call rotation, helping diagnose and resolve real customer issues.

Use AI tools to move faster, unblock yourself, and improve code quality.

Contribute to technical documentation, internal guides, and asynchronous communication.

Required Skills & Background

We are looking for a senior, product-minded backend engineer with strong technical judgment and execution capability:

Solid experience building complex backend systems and web services in production environments.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with high-performance, data-intensive systems.

Experience writing clean, maintainable, and efficient production code (language-agnostic; Python and C++ are used today).

Comfort working with SQL and data-centric architectures.

Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and accountability.

Ability to make progress in environments with ambiguity and evolving priorities.

Excellent written communication skills and comfort working asynchronously.

Fluency in English (Spanish is a plus but not required).

Willingness to be part of an on-call rotation.
