M&A Analyst

Job Summary

As M&A Analyst, you will join our M&A team In this role, you will report to the VP of M&A and will have the opportunity to support the activities related to acquisitions within CG, on a dynamic role supporting end-to-end M&A and investment processes — from due diligence and financial modeling to valuation, scenario analysis, and preparation of investment memoranda and presentations — driving informed equity decisions through rigorous analysis, critical thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain detailed and flexible financial models to evaluate potential M&A investment opportunities and portfolio divestitures across various energy technologies and geographies
  • Analyze and challenge complex investment cases in a rigorous, clear, intuitive, and flexible manner, identifying key risks and potential value creation levers.
  • Collect key assumptions from the functional teams (commercial, technical, tax, etc.) and maintain clear and accurate Assumption Books for valuation purposes.
  • Prepare compelling presentations that clearly explain why a project provides an attractive risk-adjusted return.
  • Support the transaction work streams, including process management, due diligence, and investment memorandum creation.
  • Collaborate with the broader M&A team by rigorously challenging and debating investment opportunities and corporate strategy with colleagues.

Qualifications and Skills:

Your profile is a natural match if you have:

  • Education: Excellent academic qualifications preferably with an undergraduate degree in engineering, business or finance
  • Experience: we are looking for an experienced analyst or associate with excellent financial modelling and analytical abilities. Up to 4 years of experience working as a financial analyst or associate in energy or infrastructure investments or project finance at a financial institution, financial advisor or strategic company
  • Skilled at providing investment analysis quickly and clearly, as well as preparing compelling materials describing transactions and value drivers
  • Eager to work in a lean and flat organization, and have the interpersonal skills to collaborate horizontally within the company and on transaction teams
  • Deeply interested in and intellectually curious about energy and financial markets, and enthusiastic about contributing to a fast-growing and dynamic organization
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Travel requirements: Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of time
