Global Director of Solar Engineering

We are currently looking for a Solar and BESS market specialist to join our team as
Global Engineering Director
. The Global Engineering Director will strategically lead and manage the technological solutions, engineering, and digital systems used in the company's solar and BESS energy projects, enhancing competitiveness through efficiency, sustainability, and the use of innovative technologies. In addition, the role will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams distributed across multiple countries, aligning technical development with the company's business and growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement the company's technology and engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives.
• Oversee the technical management of technologies used in our projects, including:
• Photovoltaic (PV) system design
• Inverters, transformers, SCADA systems, and energy monitoring systems
• Energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid systems
• Supervise the preparation and control of designs, engineering solutions, technical specifications, and standards within EPC projects.
• Work closely with Project Development, Construction, and O&M teams to identify and manage technical risks.
• Lead R&D and innovation initiatives, including the adoption of new technologies such as high-efficiency modules, bifacial modules, tracking systems, and AI-based monitoring solutions.
• Manage and develop technical teams (Electrical, Mechanical, SCADA, IT, Data) to align the Engineering department with the company's strategic needs.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE, Grid Codes, ISO).
• Oversee digitalization processes, data analytics, performance optimization, and cybersecurity.
• Manage technical relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and technology partners.
• Position open to international candidates, with daily coordination of multidisciplinary teams across multiple countries and regular travel to engineering offices, construction sites, and meetings with clients and suppliers.

Requirements

• University degree in Engineering (Electrical, Energy, Industrial, or similar); a Master's degree in renewable energy, electrical systems, project management, or an MBA is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering and execution of utility-scale or commercial/industrial solar EPC projects.
• Mandatory
  previous experience in senior technical leadership roles such as Technical Director, CTO, Engineering Director, or similar, leading multidisciplinary and international teams.
• Mandatory
  in-depth knowledge of PV and BESS technologies, electrical standards and codes, grid connection, grid studies, and industry standards.
• Experience across the full project lifecycle: development, design, tendering, construction, commissioning, and operational support.
• Mandatory
  specific experience in the Spanish, Italian, or German markets. International experience in other countries is highly valued.
• Fluent English (spoken and written, C1 level or equivalent) is essential; Spanish, German and/or French are highly valued for coordination with international clients and partners.
• Strategic mindset and business vision combined with strong technical rigor and results orientation (cost, schedule, quality, and plant performance).
• Ability to work in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Innovative mindset with a strong interest in new technologies, business models, and digital solutions applied to solar energy and storage.
