Manager, Software Engineering

We are looking for a Manager, Software Engineering, to join our Life Sciences & Health team in Barcelona.
In this role, you'll lead, support, and grow a team of software engineers working on Cortellis CMC Intelligence, a key Pharma-Regulatory application used by customers across the life sciences industry.

You'll be a hands-on leader who enjoys coaching engineers, creating an inclusive and high-trust team environment, and helping people do their best work. While your focus will be on people leadership, you'll stay close to technology partnering with your team on technical decisions, delivery, and continuous improvement in an agile setting.

Working closely with Product, UX, and other Engineering leaders, you'll help translate customer needs into high-quality, scalable solutions, while reinforcing Clarivate values through accountability, collaboration, and a strong sense of ownership.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field; or equivalent relevant work experience. 

• 7+ years of industry experience in Software Engineering.

• Strong people-management skills, with experience coaching engineers, supporting career growth, and leading teams in agile, cross-functional environments while staying hands-on with technical decisions.

• Java, Angular, AWS, SQL, elastic search and NodeJS.

It would be great if you also have . . .  

• Experience with enterprise or regulated SaaS products, ideally in life sciences or similar domains

• Exposure to cloud-native architectures and large-scale front-end platforms.

• A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

What will you be doing in this role?

• Lead and develop a team of software engineers, setting clear goals, supporting career growth, and providing regular feedback and guidance

• Stay hands-on by contributing to technical direction, reviewing solutions, and supporting high-quality delivery of customer-focused features

• Partner closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams to shape solutions, plan roadmaps, and deliver against business objectives

• Drive execution by estimating work, planning quarterly delivery, and ensuring timely, reliable outcomes

• Foster collaboration across engineering, DevOps, data, and other teams, while continuously improving engineering practices and ways of working

About the Team

Our Barcelona-based development team brings together talented Software and QA Engineers, working in close collaboration with a Solution Analyst, UX Designer, and Product Owner. As part of our Agile processes, you'll play an active role in shaping scope and refinement, with coordination and support from the Delivery Manager.

Product you will be developing

You'll be working on Cortellis CMC Intelligence, a solution that helps pharmaceutical companies navigate complex global regulations around Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC). These regulations are essential for bringing a new drug to the market and for maintaining approval when manufacturing or process changes occur. Our platform provides customers with up-to-date, structured information on CMC requirements across a wide range of global markets, helping them save time, reduce risk, and accelerate the delivery of treatments to patients.

Hours of Work

This is a Full-time, permanent position, working in CET time zone.
