Aim high, go beyond

At Open Cosmos, we're solving some of the world's biggest challenges from space, giving businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before. Ready for the challenge? Then read on and launch your engineering career in the space industry with Open Cosmos.

We're building satellites and space solutions that deliver real impact — from Earth observation to global connectivity — and we're looking for motivated, curious Graduate / Entry-Level Systems Engineers to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, work across multiple spacecraft subsystems, and contribute directly to missions that will go to space.

Working in our Chief Technology Office (CTO)

The CTO division is where Open Cosmos technology comes to life. Covering engineering, product development, and technical innovation, the team designs, builds, and operates the satellites, systems, and platforms that make our missions possible. It's a highly collaborative environment where ideas become real hardware, software, and data solutions that deliver impact from space.

Our Systems Team brings together brilliant Systems, AOCS and Thermal Engineers who turn ambitious mission concepts into reality. They design, integrate, and optimise every detail – from spacecraft architecture to next-generation optical payloads – making sure every system fits, works, and thrives in orbit. From first sketch to launch day, they own the journey, ensuring our satellites deliver maximum impact back on Earth.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll support the end-to-end development of spacecraft systems. Day-to-day, you will:

  • Contribute to spacecraft system design and integration under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support analysis, modelling, and technical trade studies at system level.
  • Assist in defining, managing and verifying requirements for assigned work packages.
  • Use MBSE tools and methodologies (full training provided) to support system development.
  • Contribute to FMECA activities and help shape FDIR strategies.
  • Work closely with subsystem teams across power, comms, AOCS, propulsion, thermal and mechanical.
  • Support AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) activities — from functional checks to environmental testing.
  • Assist in creating technical documentation, review materials and bid inputs.
  • Engage with suppliers, tracking technical deliverables and ensuring alignment with system needs.

This is a hands-on, high-learning role where you'll build real spacecraft engineering experience from day one.

What You'll Bring

  • A degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, physics or a related engineering discipline.
  • Understanding of spacecraft subsystems and basic system design principles.
  • Familiarity with MBSE concepts or SysML tools (academic exposure welcomed).
  • Exposure to FMECA, FDIR, CONOPS or system budgeting through projects, coursework or internships.
  • Comfort in technical or lab environments — workshops, university teams, prototypes or personal engineering builds.
  • Ability to work with engineering documentation, requirements and system diagrams.
  • Awareness of engineering standards and willingness to learn sector frameworks like ECSS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach.
  • Clear communication skills, able to work effectively with specialists from different disciplines.
  • Curious, proactive and hungry to learn — you ask questions and seek understanding.
  • Detail-oriented and organised, producing clear and traceable work.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Adaptable to a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities.

These roles can be based in:

  • Harwell, UK
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Porto, Portugal
  • Athens, Greece

To apply, you must have the legal right to work in your chosen location.

Please submit your application in English.
