We're entering a critical growth phase where strong engineering leadership is essential. We're looking for a Head of Engineering who can build and scale our engineering organization while keeping quality, speed, and team culture at the core.

The Role

As our Head of Engineering, you will lead the execution of Wiselook's technology vision. You'll be responsible for building a high-performing engineering team, establishing robust processes, and ensuring we ship quality product at speed. You'll work closely with our Chief of Product and AI (Jaime), our CEO (Rocío), and our two engineers (Roberto, and Borja) to scale our platform and engineering culture.

This is a startup Head of Engineering role: we need someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, balances pragmatism with technical excellence, and knows how to build teams that deliver. You'll be both a people leader and a technical force in the early days.

What You'll Do

  • Build and lead a growing engineering team, starting from our current foundation
  • Own engineering execution: sprint planning, delivery, quality, and velocity
  • Establish engineering processes and best practices: CI/CD, code review, testing, documentation, and agile methodology
  • Stay hands-on when needed: unblocking the team, reviewing critical code, and solving technical challenges
  • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and collaboration
  • Partner with the Chief of Product and AI to integrate AI systems into production while ensuring reliability and scalability
  • Oversee architecture decisions in collaboration with technical leadership, ensuring security, performance, and scalability
  • Manage recruitment and onboarding to grow the team strategically
  • Contribute to the leadership team, participating in strategic decisions, fundraising, and partnerships

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3-4 years leading engineering teams
  • Proven track record in startup or scale-up environments, ideally from early stage to growth
  • Strong hands-on technical background in full-stack development and system architecture
  • Experience building engineering teams from the ground up and scaling them
  • Excellent people management skills: mentoring, performance management, and creating psychological safety
  • Process-oriented but pragmatic: you know when to implement structure and when to move fast
  • Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and enthusiasm for integrating them into production systems
  • Strong communicator who can align engineering execution with business priorities
  • Highly motivated with a passion for building great products and leading high-performing teams
  • Extreme ownership mentality: you take full responsibility for outcomes and never settle for mediocrity
  • Exceptional ability to learn and adapt: you thrive in ambiguity and pivot quickly when needed
  • Startup mindset: resourceful, resilient, and able to make things happen with limited resources

Nice-to-Haves

  • Previous Head of Engineering experience in an early-stage company
  • Experience with B2B SaaS platforms and enterprise integrations
  • Exposure to psychometrics, HR tech, or workforce analytics
  • Comfortable working in Spanish and English (we have international expansion plans)

Our Stack

We work with a modern stack: React, , TypeScript, Tailwind, , Python (FastAPI), Prisma, PostgreSQL, Azure, Modal, LangGraph/LangChain, and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity is a plus, but leadership skills and adaptability matter more.

You'll be joining a small but mighty team led by experienced founders:

  • Rocío (CEO): MBA from Columbia, with strategic and financial experience at J.P. Morgan and key roles at high-growth companies like Amazon and Glovo
  • Jaime Oliver (Chief of Product and AI): MIT postdoc with a physics and data science background, previously led AI/ML products at Clarity AI and founded Epoch Metrics
