Your main goal will be to build and lead n8n's IT & Security function from the ground up — creating a secure, scalable, and AI-powered workplace that empowers our teams to move fast and safely as we scale.

To do so, you'll take ownership of our internal IT and security foundations, drive operational excellence across systems and tools, and design a long-term roadmap that supports our rapid global growth.

Security & Resilience

• Define and own the company's security strategy and roadmap across IT and cloud environments
• Identify and mitigate system vulnerabilities through regular assessments and penetration testing
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans
• Lead security incident response planning and exercises
• Drive company-wide security awareness and training initiatives
• Ensure compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, and other relevant frameworks

Risk Management

• Identify, assess, and mitigate potential IT and security risks through structured assessments
• Establish governance practices and risk reporting to ensure long-term scalability and resilience
• Partner with business teams to anticipate and prevent scaling pitfalls
• Champion secure-by-design and risk-informed decision-making — especially in AI and automation initiatives

Strategic Leadership & Innovation

• Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team on IT, security, and compliance
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies, with a focus on AI, automation, and productivity tooling
• Evaluate and operate emerging technologies, including internally hosted LLMs and AI-driven tools
• Lead initiatives to create a secure, AI-powered, and automated workplace
• Develop long-term roadmaps for tooling, infrastructure improvements, and innovation

IT Infrastructure & Operations

• Build and manage n8n's internal IT function from scratch, including policies, tools, support, and service levels
• Architect and operate our device management, SaaS ecosystem, and internal services (Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, etc.)
• Transition ad hoc or shadow infrastructure into scalable, secure, and well-maintained systems
• Manage identity and access controls, endpoint protection, and lifecycle management of employee devices and software
• Provide first-line IT support and scale service desk operations through automation and service providers
• Oversee building access and office hardware

Team Building & Leadership

• Hire, manage, and develop a high-performing IT & Security team as n8n scales
• Define team structure, roles, and career paths for future growth
• Set and track OKRs, SLAs, and KPIs for service quality, uptime, security posture, and risk metrics

REQUIREMENTS
Must-haves

• Proven leadership in IT: You've built and scaled IT functions in high-growth, cloud-native environments
• Security & compliance expertise: You've led or supported SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar programs
• Risk & resilience mindset: You anticipate risks early and design systems for long-term operational continuity
• Hands-on systems builder: You're comfortable owning and improving technical infrastructure, from SaaS ecosystems to endpoint protection
• Strategic partner: You bring clarity, structure, and foresight to complex, fast-scaling environments

Nice-to-haves

• Remote-first experience: You've supported distributed teams across multiple time zones
• Cloud familiarity: Experience managing or integrating with Azure or other cloud platforms
• DevSecOps understanding: Exposure to secure CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling
• AI enthusiasm: Experience deploying or managing internally hosted LLMs or AI productivity tools
