Overview: The
Senior Developer

will serve on the Giga team with a focus on supporting activities of the Giga Barcelona Technology Center. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining the core software solutions that support Giga's mission.

Type of Contract: Freelance

Gross Salary: USD/month

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing back-end components for projects within the Giga Barcelona Tech Center and the BDT-FNS team.
  • Leveraging cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) for deployment, managing containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and integrating CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensuring applications meet industry standards for security, scalability, and performance.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as designers, engineers, and project managers to deliver integrated software solutions.
  • Designing, building, and maintaining APIs, microservices, and integrating cloud-based services.
  • Implementing back-end solutions using server-side technologies like Python.
  • Participating in code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Continuously improving the performance and user experience of applications.

2. Concrete Deliverables:

  • Implementation and oversight of new IT infrastructure,
     ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and alignment with Giga's operational needs.
  • Deployment of cloud-based, secure, and scalable software solutions
     that support Giga's long-term goals.
  • Development and deployment of key software projects
     under the Giga Barcelona Tech Center.
  • Successful delivery software components
     for high-priority projects and Giga products.

3. Qualifications and Experience:

Education
:

  • Advanced degree in 
    Computer Science, Engineering
    , or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience
:

  • Minimum of 
    7+ years
     as a software developer
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and managing containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience in collaborating with small teams as well as large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Proficiency in modern development languages and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript, , React, Vue, Angular, Python).

Languages
:

  • Fluency in 
    English
     is required.
  • Proficiency in 
    Spanish
     or another 
    UN official language
     is an advantage.

  • Expertise in full-stack development, covering both front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Ability to manage cloud infrastructure and CI/CD deployment pipelines.

  • Familiarity with deploying and managing web services on Apache and Nginx servers, will be valued. Additionally, experience with data processing platforms will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with advanced digital technologies (e.g., AI, Blockchain, IoT, etc.) will be considered an asset.
