Your Role And Responsibilities
As a
Superintendent Engineer 2-Stroke
, your responsibilities will include performing field service activities according to the work plan, conducting advanced mechanical, electronic, automation, and system integration-related troubleshooting on two-stroke engines and ancillary equipment, providing technical advice on repair activities carried out by customers, and commissioning service products.

In this exciting position, you will have the opportunity to work in an international environment, traveling across Europe and globally for various service assignments, accounting for approximately 80% of your working time (up to 200 days per year). We are seeking candidates who are ready and eager to travel, possess a strong field service mindset, and are open to challenges.

As a Superintendent Engineer you will focus on these responsibilities:

• Execute mechanical jobs on vessels with Wärtsilä/Sulzer/WinGD 2-stroke engines.
• Occasionally perform supervisory or troubleshooting activities with support from Technical Service teams.
• Install Wärtsilä Service Products (modernization, retrofit packages) for 2-stroke diesel engines.
• Conduct mechanical, electrical, and automation-related work on engines and installations.
• Perform technical assessments, pre-inspections, and final commissioning of installed products per Wärtsilä guidelines.
• Lead on-site jobs, manage service activities, and collaborate with teammates and stakeholders (yards, crews).
• Ensure customer satisfaction through positive interactions and efficient collaboration during service work.
• Communicate actively with Field Service and Technical Service back-office during work execution.
• Provide internal and external reports on work progress, updates, and daily reports as per Wärtsilä standards.
• Prepare final Service Work reports, time, and expense reports in accordance with Wärtsilä policy.
• Consult, advise, and promote Wärtsilä solutions and products to customers proactively.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering or a related technical field is highly appreciated.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in service work on mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary equipment installations, particularly 2-stroke Sulzer/Wärtsilä/WinGD engines.
• Experience with Wärtsilä products is a plus.
• In-depth understanding of 2-stroke engine operation principles.
• Proficient in interpreting technical instructions, drawings, and schematic diagrams (e.g., pneumatic, electrical systems).
• Expert in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting tasks on engines, auxiliary systems, and service products.
• Strong reporting skills and ability to generate comprehensive reports.
• Proficient in MS Office and other relevant reporting tools.
• Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and collaborate seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders.
• Passionate about learning and eager to enhance knowledge to service our engines and Wärtsilä retrofit products for 2-stroke engines in operation.
