Our client is a solid technology company, now managing an emerging biotech platform dedicated to discovering and developing breakthrough antimicrobial agents to combat the growing threat of drug-resistant infections. Leveraging cutting-edge biology, advanced screening platforms, and a multidisciplinary team, they aim to deliver novel anti-infective therapies with transformative potential for global health.
Driven by a strong scientific and entrepreneurial spirit, the company is entering an exciting research & growth phase. We are now seeking a Director, Drug Discovery Biology, to lead and expand their Discovery Biology function, driving innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence across their pipeline.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise the activities of the Drug Discovery Biology group, strengthening cooperation and synergies among the different work teams.
- Building and managing a high-performance, business-oriented multidisciplinary team to deliver on both science- and business-driven milestones.
- Defining objectives and priorities for senior leaders in the group so that information is efficiently communicated to all levels and team members.
- Authorize and supervise the integration of studies carried out in-house and with external collaborators, to guarantee quality standards, and compliance with work programs, to meet milestones.
- Responsible for ensuring robust results from scheduled studies within agreed timeframes using the available infrastructure and equipment.
- Responsible for proposing the purchase of the necessary equipment for the efficient fulfillment of the group's responsibilities.
- Identify and propose collaboration agreements, joint ventures and entry and exit licenses with other companies, in addition to leading public-private collaboration initiatives.
- Set priorities, accelerate, and ensure successful progression of the group's technology and pipeline projects.
- Actively participate in departmental, cross-functional, senior leadership, and external meetings to contribute expertise and to represent the goals and vision of the Discovery Biology group.
- Challenge and mentor the Drug Discovery Biology group to provide opportunities, visibility, and development for all group members.
- Responsible for the approval of work procedures
- Direct report to the General Manager
Candidate profile:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology or Parasitology (Ph.D. in Biology or Medicine).
- 10 years experience in this or similar positions, in pharmaceutical companies and/or startups focused on drug discovery of antimicrobial agents.
- Experience in drug discovery, from screening to clinical candidate development.
- Experience in the development phases would also be valued.
- Extensive experience in various drug discovery disciplines: in vitro and in vivo, microbiology, parasitology, cell culture, and alternative in vitro models.
