Application Solution Engineer

The Application Solution Engineer (ASE) is a cross-functional role within the Corporate Information Technology (IT) team. The ASE is responsible for aligning end-to-end process design across SGS's corporate IT applications. Acting as a senior techno-functional expert, the ASE supports business stakeholders in defining high-level specifications, anticipating system functionality challenges, and advising on requirement definition and solution delivery.

This role ensures that solutions are standardized, fit-for-purpose, and aligned with SGS and industry best practices. The ASE oversees software development activities, ensuring deliverables meet quality, architectural, and security standards. Responsibilities include validating effort estimates, reviewing third-party proposals, and coordinating development phases.

With deep technical expertise and adherence to market best practices, the ASE ensures that all technical designs—whether developed internally or externally—meet SGS standards, working closely with the Enterprise Architecture team.

Additionally, the ASE will lead the design and implementation of cloud-based integration solutions using Azure Integration Services, including Logic Apps, Service Bus, and API Management.

Responsibilities:

• Lead global solution design and validate techno-functional documentation.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure technical models and workflows.
• Define architectures and implement end-to-end integration solutions using Azure Integration Services.
• Design and optimize data models, system architecture, and messaging frameworks (queues, topics, subscriptions).
• Collaborate with Global Process Owners, IT stakeholders, and development teams for strategic alignment and seamless integration.
• Develop reusable components, connectors, and APIs; ensure compliance with SGS Enterprise Architecture and Security standards.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, automation, and version control for deployments.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize integration workflows using Azure tools.
• Validate technical impact assessments and coordinate deployment activities.
• Ensure all solutions meet operational and technical requirements: security, availability, maintainability, scalability, and performance.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, API Management) and hybrid integration.
• Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, middleware, and software lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with Azure SDKs (.NET, Java, Python) and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, make proactive decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
• Knowledge of security, risk, quality, and compliance standards.
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, and process improvement methodologies.

Technical Expertise:

• Azure Logic Apps: Workflow orchestration, connector setup, error handling, expressions, deployment automation.
• Azure Service Bus: Queuing, publish/subscribe, dead-lettering, retry policies, throughput optimization.
• Azure Integration Services: Event-driven architecture, API Management, Event Grid.
• Security & Identity: Azure AD, OAuth2, RBAC, managed identities, SAS tokens.
• DevOps & Automation: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ARM templates, Bicep, PowerShell/CLI.
• Monitoring & Diagnostics: Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics.
• Data Transformation: JSON, XML, Liquid templates, schema validation.
