We are looking for an experienced
Backend Engineer
with strong Python expertise to help our team modernize our data platform and applications for an exciting and fast-growing Fintech.

The ideal candidate should be able to work in a team to migrate legacy SQL-based systems to modern
Databricks (PySpark)
pipelines, while also adapting and extending our
Python-based applications
. This role is highly impactful: you will directly contribute to the evolution of our data and application architecture, and your inputs and technical propositions will be highly valued.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Python Backend Engineer (Databricks / Delta Lake / FastAPI) located in the Greater Madrid Metropolitan Area, with some work-from-home flexibility. The Senior Python Backend Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining backend systems, implementing and optimizing data processing pipelines, ensuring the scalability and reliability of backend infrastructure, collaborating with front-end developers, and incorporating best practices in software development and data engineering.

The ideal applicant should have:

  • Higher education in computer science, engineering, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience as a backend developer or software engineer.
  • Strong expertise in
    Python
    and backend development.
  • Hands-on experience with
    Databricks/PySpark
  • Strong SQL skills and proven experience working with
    SQL Server / MSSQL
    .
  • Professional experience with
    FastAPI
    ,
    Django
    or other Rest frameworks

  • Solid overall coding skills
    , including:

  • Knowledge of software engineering principles (SOLID, clean code, design patterns).

  • Version control and collaborative workflows with
    Git
    .

  • Testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality practices.

  • Passion for writing clean, robust, and tested code.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with
    data visualization
    or reporting (e.g., Plotly, Dash).
  • Knowledge of
    authorization protocols
    (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT).
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience in financial services, risk management, or quantitative tools.
  • Some experience with
    frontend technologies
    (React, TypeScript, etc.) is beneficial but not essential.
  • Curiosity for data analysis and interest in modern data engineering practices.
